Le Grand Bain Shaving Cream ... from Sheraton?

June 05, 2022 0

I remember when the complementary hotel shampoo would dry out your hair (not that I have that concern any more) or the body lotion was so perfumy and would actually dry out your hands.  Body wash wasn’t even part of the mix.   Many hotels over the years have gotten much better over the years and I’ve come to expect better smelling and performing products.  For the most part they are.  I’ve only seen complementary shaving cream a few times and I wasn’t sure what to expect.  But, I hate to say it, my expectations were low.

Shave of the day with the Sheraton Le Grand Bain Shave Cream

One instance was when we at a Sheraton.  I was surprised to see they had a tube of shaving cream on the counter.  The 20 ml tube read: le grand bain Citron + Vetiver.  Hmm … sounds intriguing.
I dispensed small amount of cream onto my brush. First impression was that I liked the scent.  The citron and vetiver combination made for a fresh, masculine, citrus combination.  It was rather tame.  The scent wasn’t so overpowering where it just lingered in the air.  I needed to force a little air out of the tube to smell it.  Next, I noticed the cream had a glossy white appearance; it reminded me of the Derby shave creams in a tube.

Dispensing some Le Grand Bain cream onto my brush.

I started to lather.  To my surprise it started to develop that familiar, smooth, lather that other well performing shave creams yield.  After applying I waited a few moments just to see if it would thin.  I was pleased that it did not.

I used my fairly aggressive Muhle R102 razor with a Dorco ST300 blade.  I found that the lather of the le grand bain shave cream had a nice slickness and did a good job protecting my skin.  It effortlessly washed away; didn’t leave me feeling like my face was dried out; or that I was in a cologne showroom.  All in all, a pleasant experience.

Happy that I got a nice lather with this shave cream

Surprisingly, this delightful shaving cream isn’t available on the Sheraton Store site.  Though numerous listings on Walmart.com and eBay for it.  Personally, I wouldn’t pay the prices that some sellers are asking.  I could only hope that the Sheraton Store will start listing it (at a reasonable price of course) for wet shavers to try.  I suppose, until then, I guess I have an excuse to lean towards staying at a Sheraton.

Simpson’s Sandalwood Shaving Cream

June 25, 2021 0

SOTD with the Simpsons Sandalwood Luxury Shave Cream

The Simpson’s name in wet shaving is probably more associated with brushes than with shaving cream.    In 2012 the company released the Simpsons Luxury Shaving Cream to very positive reviews.   I have a number of tins in my shaving cream supply and have used them on a number of occasions.
The Sandalwood scented variety of the Simpsons Luxury Shaving Cream was packaged in 4.2 oz tin that measures about 3.25 inches in diameter and about 1.5 inches high.   So it’s not as bulky as a Taylor of Old Bond Street or Proraso shave cream bowl (not that those containers are super bulky).

The tin size in relation to a couple of other containers

This is a very soft shaving cream and it reminded me a bit of the Every Man Jack Cedarwood Shave Cream.  Unlike the EMJ cream, I found that I didn’t need a lot of cream to build a decent lather.  Applying a small amount to the brush that was about the size of a lima bean was sufficient and I got a rich and protective lather.

I did like the lather I got from this shaving cream

Scent-wise, the Simpsons Sandawood smells what I can only describe as a lightly herbal sandalwood.  My wife said it smelled like an herbal scented baby powder.   It wasn’t as “sweet” smelling as the Game Day Men’s  or “spicy” as Taylor Of Old Bond St. Sandalwood or even “sweet-spicy” as the Proraso sandalwood.  The scent of the Simpsons Sandalwood is very appealing and, overall, very pleasant without being overpowering.  I felt it washed away cleanly without leaving a lingering scent.

The shaving cream in the tin

It guess it’s been a while since I’ve broken this out as Simpsons appears to be moving from the shaving cream tins to a plastic tub.  I have yet to try it, but I would imagine the scent and formulation is likely the same. As of this writing, it looks as if the tin is still available from some retailers (like Smallflower)
So I could supplies the tins drying up eventually.

Derby Lemon Shaving Cream

July 27, 2020 0
I’ve scoured the internet and have seen numerous reviews for the Derby Shaving creams.  As one could imagine they range anywhere from one to five star, horrible to great, hate to love … what have you.   My take: I fall somewhere in the middle.  The Derby Lemon shaving cream isn’t the best lathering, the slickest, or the greatest smelling lemon scent that I’ve shaved with.   But it’s far from the worst cream or soap that I’ve used.
Derby Lemon Shaving Cream

The shaving cream tube measures about 8 inches in length and the cap is about 1 inch in diameter.  So, the Derby Shave Cream tube doesn’t take up a lot of space in the dopp bag.  This shave cream has been to Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, Hawaii, and California with me.  While haven’t used it with every possible water hardness type, the Derby Lemon Shaving Cream has performed as expected with the ones is has been used with.

A dollop about the size of an almond usually would suffice.

A dollop about the size of an almond was good for my face shave and usually enough for the head.  Though, every now and then I need to add a little more cream to the brush to shave my head.    I felt that I got a sufficient and protective lather that didn’t require a lot of water.

I liked the lather it produced

As the name suggests, this cream smelled strongly of lemon but there was a hint of, what I would describe as a “clean” scent.   I would imagine that just has to do with the ingredients that are in the core shave cream.     To my nose, the scent didn’t linger around after washing my face.   While I could probably use just about any aftershave I still tend to use one in the same citrus family, such as Captain’s Choice Lime or Fine Accoutrement’s Orange Noir.

One of my Shaves of the Day (SOTD) with Derby Lemon

Overall, I am personally pleased with this cream.   I got a protective lather from the Derby Lemon Shaving cream, I enjoyed the scent, and I didn’t have any adverse reactions to it.   As with most things wet shaving … Your mileage may vary (YMMV).

Every Man Jack Cedarwood Shave Cream

April 07, 2019 0
When I still had the webstore, one of the first line of products we started carrying was from Every Man Jack (EMJ). We had the shave creams in a tube, the face washes, and the face scrubs.  This was still when their tubes were available in either white or blue and not the wood-grained patterned tubes.  The Every Man Jack Premium Shave line was not yet available would come a few months later.
The old style EMJ Cedarwood shaving cream tin that I had in the den
At the time, they only had the unscented and Signature Mint varieties.   So, when Every Man Jack came out with a cedarwood scented shaving cream I was intrigued.   For one, their products were only available in tubes and the cylindrical jar this shaving cream was packed in was more in line with the bowls or tins that many of the artisan soaps are available in.

The EMJ Cedarwood Shaving Cream felt denser than some of the other shaving creams I've used
The other reason was the cedarwood scent.   When I first opened it and put my nose to the jar I got a nice whiff of this pleasant, masculine, and woodsy aroma.  After I pulled the jar away to put the cap back on I immediately brought it to my nose again before doing so because I, personally, found it that appealing.

I got a decent lather, but needed more cream to make it work.

The Every Man Jack Cedarwood shaving cream feels a bit denser than, say, Taylor of Old Bond Street or the Derby Shaving Cream.  Performance-wise, I found it to be a bit mixed.  While I got a decent lather; I needed a little more product to make it work.  With TOBS or Derby I would need an almond sized amount with the EMJ I needed twice that.  I did feel that the shaving cream had a decent slickness and it did a good job protecting my skin.  I had no irritation and didn’t experience any nicks and cuts.

The newer design of the EMJ Cedarwood Shaving Cream

I’ve had this in the den for some time and Every Man Jack has since redesigned the packaging.
Overall, I found it to performed similar to the other Every Man Jack shaving creams.  It does the job.  But with traditional wet shaving, I want to make it less of a job and add a little more enjoyment to the experience even if it’s just a little fluffier of a lather.  Personally, I really like the cedarwood scent. But it, regrettably, didn’t meet the lathering needs.   Fortunately, for me, Every Man Jack has a Cedarwood Bodywash.

Initial Pass: Dr. Bronner’s Organic Shaving Gel

December 01, 2018 0

I like the Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Liquid Soap; the peppermint is a particular favorite of mine.  When shopping I’ll regularly see the soap bottles, toothpaste, and soap bars. Though I’ve never seen Dr. Bronner’s Organic Shaving Gel until my wife brought a bottle of the Unscented home.  She had been on an assignment for work and happened to discover it in a client’s company store.  If there’s something she thinks is interesting, she won’t hesitate to pick it up for me to try.  I suppose up until this point, I don’t think I realized how much she understood my enjoyment I got from this wet shaving hobby.
My wife bought Dr. Bronner's Shave Gel on one of her business trips for me to try.
When I first opened the bottle a very thin, brown, runny liquid immediately leaked out of the dispensing opening.  This definitely didn’t resemble gels that I had previously tried before.   After a few shaving sessions it started to dispense more like a textured gel (as if it contained salt granules).  At this point I realized that even though it didn’t mention it in the directions I probably should have shaken the tube first.  This probably would have prevented that the thin liquid from running out.   With subsequent shaves, I would vigorously shake the tube.

It started out runny. But was able to push out a thicker gel.
Even though this Dr. Bronner’s Organic Shaving Gel is described as Unscented didn’t mean it is without an odor. As with other unscented wet shaving or grooming products I’ve tried, I would imagine that the mixture of the different ingredients produces their own aroma.  Personally, I thought the scent of the Unscented Organic Shaving Gel was just awful.  It wasn’t as noticeable when I use it for just my head shave.  But when applying it to my chin and upper lip, I am very aware that it has been applied.  It almost reminds me of the smell of a brand new badger brush that hasn’t been cleansed of it’s odor.   The upside was that it washes away easily and that aroma doesn’t linger around.

After about 15 seconds, the lather thinned out.
After applying the gel to my head and face with my hands and a bubbly lather started to build.  After stopping the lather disappeared after a few seconds and trying to lather with a brush was no different. I did find that the Dr. Bronner’s Organic Shaving Gel had a decent slickness to it.  However, I did apply my Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Pure-Castille Soap to my head and face and found the slickness and protection to be similar.   Though I seriously preferred the peppermint aroma to the “unscented.”
Overall, the Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Organic Shaving Gel got the job done.  But, it wasn’t an extremely gratifying experience.  If the shave brush is something of a must in the wet shaving routine then this probably isn’t a must have.

Taylor Of Old Bond Street Lemon Lime Shave Cream in a Bowl

June 23, 2017 0

TheLemon and Lime Shaving cream from Taylor Of Old Bond Street (often abbreviated to TOBS) was the first Taylor of Old Bond product that I’ve tried.  Taylor Of Old Bond is popular name in wet shaving. I had heard good things about it, so I was happy that it lived up to its reputation.  It is a light greenish colored cream and has a very soft consistency.

Taylor Of Old Bond St. Lemon & Lime Shaving Cream in a Bowl
As with most creams that I’ve tried, the TOBS Lemon and Lime shaving cream was easy to lather and it didn’t require a tremendous amount of water.  For me, a wetting my brush under the tap and then giving it a rigorous shake leaves it damp enough for use.

The thing that like about The Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream bowls is that I can apply it one of three ways:
Swirl the brush in the bowl – like it sounds, just run the brush over the shaving cream in the bowl to load it.  Unlike a soap I don’t swirl it for too long.  Otherwise, I wind up loading too much and wasting the excess.
Applying Cream to the brush: I may scoop about an almond sized amount and place it on the brush.  Then start face lathering.
Dot the face: This is where I take small amounts of cream, dab them around my face, and then and then use the brush to lather.

The TOBS Lemon and Lime is also available in a tube.  As expected, it smells the same and performs the same.  So the only drawback (if one could even consider it a drawback) is that I don’t have the plastic TOBS bowl to load it.  I suppose I could always take my old bowl and fill it with the cream in the tube. But that’s neither here nor there.
The scent of the Taylor of Old Bond St. Lemon & Lime reminds me of a can of Sprite or Sierra Mist.  Personally, I really like the aroma.  But, having brushed the cream over my lips on occasion, I can certainly say that it doesn’t tastes as good as the soda … even if chilled.  To my nose, the scent isn’t overpoweringly strong.  Though, it is noticeable when applied and I am aware of throughout the duration of my shave. The cream washes away easily and I find that the aroma doesn’t linger after the rinse.  I think it provides a good, protective, and slick lather.
TOBS Gives me a protective and slick lather.
Taylor Of Old Bond Street’s Lemon & Lime Shaving Cream is packaged in a plastic bowl.  I really like the containers.  Though, I don’t find them to be very durable.  I’ve dropped a couple on my tile floor and wound up cracking the bottom.  This is also a cream that should probably should be stored in a cool dry place.  I had it shipped to me on a summer day when it was in the mid to high 80’s and found that when exposed to the hot temperatures it tended to get bit runny.  It didn’t affect the performance and when allowed to cool down, it got back to a nice consistency.

One of my Taylor Of Old Bond St Bowls didn't survive a fall to my tile floor.
Overall, the experience with the Taylor Of Old Bond Street Lemon and Lime shaving cream has been great.  I find the aroma to be very appealing, it’s easy to lather and apply, and it offers good protection.  So, I could see why Taylor of Old Bond St. is a favorite name among wet shavers.

Local Gent Shaving Co Tobacco Lounge Shaving Cream

November 27, 2016 0
I think I first became acquainted with Local Gent Shaving Co via Instagram.   They had a few scent names that I found intriguing: Tobacco Lounge, California Barber, and The Mariner:  TheShavingEdge.com store was still up and running and the first products of theirs that we started carrying were the preshave oil, shaving cream,  and after shave lotion.  We would carry the shave pucks a little later.

Personally, I find it easier to use a smaller brush with the Local Gent Shaving Cream containers.
By this point in my wet shaving life, I had tried a different varieties of a few scent families: eucalyptus and mint; lemon, lime and citrus; barbershop; sandalwood; and bay rum.   I hadn’t really experienced a Tobacco based shaving cream at this point. I was intrigued by the Local Gent Tobacco Lounge Shaving Cream. Initially because of the tobacco scent; but also because the blue containers with the yellow labels stood out; they were a different size, shape and color than other things we were carrying at the time.

The packaging of Tobacco Lounge has been updated, Pictured here are a couple of older versions.
Local Gent Shaving Co describes the Tobacco Lounge scent as: “a fresh and sweet musk to create those sweet high notes and the feeling of being in a classic cigar lounge.”  I don’t smoke and I haven’t spent any time in cigar lounges, so I can’t really compare it to the aroma of one.  It doesn’t remind me of any of the tobacco that I’ve smelled in my life (cigarettes, cigars, or chewing tobacco).   I do like the scent of the Local Gent Tobacco Lounge shaving cream.  To my nose, I would probably describe it as a ‘clean’ smell mixed with leather.   This may be what an actual tobacconist might smell like; but I can’t say that with any certainty.  But I can say that I to like it.
Consistency wise, it reminded me of some of my other favorite shaving creams, like TOBS for example
As the name implies, it is a shaving cream and it does have a soft and light consistency to it. It reminded me of some of my other favorite shaving creams, like Taylor of Old Bond Street Lemon Lime, Proraso Green, or Derby Lemon shaving cream. The packaging doesn’t contain any directions.  So I applied it as I do with tube shaving cream: placing a small amount on the brush or face and then face lather.   While that method worked I discovered that swirling a wet brush over the cream to load it worked better for me. When face lathering, it proved to build a dense, slick, and protective lather.   The scent was enjoyable and not very noticeable after I had rinsed my face.
I really liked the lather it produced. Plus it was easy to build.
The Local Gent Tobacco Lounge shaving cream comes in a 4 oz jar.  The packaging has been updated a few times since I’ve purchased mine.  I still do like the yellow labels but the updated artwork with the picture of the pipe and the logo are pretty eye catching as well.   I suppose that gives me a reason to use it more regularly and get the more updated packaging.
The ingredients listed on bottom of container.

A Little More On HeadBlade's HeadSlick Shaving Cream

July 03, 2016 0
When I first started shaving my head, there was a time in particular that I experienced a bad razor rash.  It was on the left side of my head mostly on my parietal ridge.  I would touch it and it felt like a cluster of small pins penetrating the first few layers of skin on my head.  I hated that feeling. In order to try to avoid, or at least reduce, this with future head shaves; I decided on the spot to start making changes in the routine.  This would ultimately point me to traditional wet shaving, but that’s a different story.
HeadSlick is Still In My Rotation, Usually on the Head Shave Polishing Pass
One of the changes I made was shifting from the canned goo from the dollar store to a new shave cream. I’ve tried many back then, one of which was HeadBlade’s HeadSlick which still remains in the rotation today.  I mostly use it on my head.  But as the tagline says, “use it anywhere you shave” … so I’ll occasionally use it on my face.
Where Can HeadSlick be Used?
I really like HeadSlick and I thought it was a good alternative to an aerosol shaving cream can.  For one I like the slickness of this cream over just about any aerosol shave cream I’ve tried.  In my experience when using some of the really cheap shaving creams it would not provide adequate slickness. As a result, when running a razor over my head, it would invariably get snagged on spot that wasn’t sufficiently lubricated and would wind up cutting myself.  This happened particularly when using the HeadBlade sport.  Since the Sport pushes the blade over the stubble it would catch on section that wasn’t properly lubricated I would get some nasty gouges.
Applied With The Fingers, HeadSlick Provided a Protective and Slick Coating with a Nice Mentholated Feel.

This is also a mentholated cream; which is an attribute that I like.  HeadSlick has a fairly strong (my opinion) mentholated feel as well as aroma to it.  Even after the shave and when rinsed off, the cooling feeling that it leaves behind makes it feel as if I can go without an aftershave, though I do use something  just out of habit.

While it’s probably not really a product for the shave brush fan. Though, in a previous post and YouTube video (below) we did test it to see if it would lather with a brush.  Personally, I was surprised and pleased with the results.

Overall, HeadSlick is one of those products that will most likely remain in the rotation.  It doesn’t leave my skin feeling dried out after a shave, I like the cooling menthol feeling, and I don’t find it to linger around.  So, I feel that I can use just about any scent of aftershave balm or splash without worrying about a clash of smells.  Because there are a lot of other products in the shave den that I like to use, I'll probably opt for the 5 oz bottle rather than the 8 oz, so I don't keep it opened and on the shelf for too long.
I Use A Number of Other Products in the Routine, So The Smaller Bottle is the Better Option for Me.
Have you tried HeadBlade’s HeadSlick shaving cream? Better yet, paraphrasing what is on the bottle … Do you use it anywhere you shave?  Leave a comment below and let us know.

Waterless Shave Gel: Bold For Men

May 21, 2016 0
When TheShavingEdge.com store launched, Bold For Men Dry Shave™ Gel was the first product that we started carrying and it was the first item that we sold.  So, the Bold For Men product is a little special to me.
Instagram Photo we took and posted a few years ago
I used to experience terrible irritation and razor rash when shave my head.  So, I started looking for products to try.  Here in North Eastern PA, there weren’t a lot of shops that carried an assortment of shaving products so I began to scour the internet.  (Side note: this has changed a little bit since then.  Some of the mass merchant retailers have expanded their breadth of wet shaving products.  Some barber shops and small vendors have also sprouted up that offer a selection of premium shaving and grooming supplies).  I eventually found my way to Bold For Men waterless shave gel.  Having used and become unhappy with the sloppy, canned goop from the dollar store I was really intrigued by a product that stated “No water. No Foam. No Mess.”

Bold For Men Dry Shave "No Water. No Foam. No Mess"

Bold For Men Dry Shave™ Gel was released in December 2006 and was designed to act as a pre-shave, shave gel, and aftershave all in one product that does not require water for use.  I found it to be relatively light and it washes off the razor fairly easily. I can’t really pinpoint what it smells like (perhaps herbal cinnamon might best describe it), but it’s a scent that I personally like.  It's not a heavy scent and I found that it doesn't linger even after using it as a aftershave.

A pre-shave conditioner I thought it was adequate.  I would consider the stubble on my head to be pretty coarse.  So, using the product as a pre-shave treatment on dry skin wasn’t too effective for softening my stubble.  A hot shower is still the method works best to soften my stubble before a shave.  I’ve found that applying as a preshave after my shower was a bit more effective.
Product was a transparent blue green gel.

Unfortunately for the shave brush fan, this is not a product that would lather with a brush.  It’s a gel. So this is a product that I applied with my fingers.  Using it the gel without water, I found the glide to be fair.  I’m not sure if it’s my skin chemistry or what, but as the gel would air dry on my head and I found it to become slightly tacky.  Adding a little water or some more gel seemed to reactivate it.  With a little water, the slickness was decent and reminded me of other shave gels in a tube that I’ve tried.

Personally, when using the product purely waterless, my head (and/or face) didn’t feel fresh and clean.  After a few uses, I felt compelled to wash any residual or excess of before applying any kind of post shave.  Aftershave-wise I fancy myself more of a splash rather than a balm person.  As a post shave treatment, the Bold For Men waterless shave gel did not give me this bracing sting that I enjoy with my splashes.  As a post shave, I found it to be similar to that of aloe vera gel rather than a mentholated balm or bracing splash.
What are your thoughts on Bold For Men?
As with anything wet shaving (er … I guess waterless shaving in this case) Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV).  What works well for some, may not be ideal for others.    I like Bold For Men Dry Shave™ Gel for shaving my head and as I mentioned previously, it is a product that is kind of special to me.  However, I personally can’t go completely waterless when shaving.

Popeye Shave Collection - A Closer Look

August 08, 2014 1
One day, Scott Saltzman, current proprietor of Razor MD, was helping out in the basement of his grandfather’s pharmacy and stumbled upon a handwritten notebook that dated back to the early 1930’s containing recipes for shaving products.

Intrigued with the backstory of the found recipes of his grandfather and great grandfather, Scott and his father began work on recreating the pre-shave oil, shave cream, and post shave lotion … and the Razor MD Rx Shave collection, an all-natural, American made line of hand-crafted shave products, was reborn.

 The Razor MD Rx Collection
Their Popeye Shave Collection was released March 2013.   Included in this special edition collection is a tin with vintage styled Popeye artwork that contains  a 2oz preshave oil, 8 oz shave cream,  and 4 oz post shave lotion in what they’re calling “sailorwood” (sandalwood) scent.  Overall I find the Razor MD sailorwood/sandalwood scent to be very nice, light and not overpowering.

Popeye Shave Collection with Vintage Styled Tin

We’ve tried out the Popeye shaving products and wanted to take a closer look at the items that make up the set:

The Pre-Shave Oil

Popeye "Sailorwood" scented Pre-Shave Oil

There seems to be some debate on the benefit of preshave oil. Some argue that it clogs the pores. Others say it a pre-shave oil lubricates and protects the skin before a shave.

I can see both sides. There have been products that others swear by that just don’t work for my skin.  For me, I haven’t noticed my skin breaking out because of a pre-shave oil so I tend to use one off and on; especially in the winter when the heat turned up and dries out my skin.

The Razor MD Bottle is relatively small.   Personally, I think it’s a good travel size.  A small, pea-sized, amount seemed to work for my face. I used a little more for my head (about double what I use for the face)

The Shave Cream

Popeye Shave Cream
This is a brushless shave cream and is applied with the fingers. Not the product of choice for those who prefer lathering with a shave brush.  We’ve tried on a number of occasions, but it doesn’t work with a brush.

The Popeye Shave Cream is probably better suited for those who want to transition over from an aerosol shave cream or for those who shave in the shower.

There was a post on the Sharpologist blog where they pointed out that the chemical mixture used to dispense the cream from the can tend to dry out the skin.  So, if preferring to steer clear of some of those chemicals and wanting to move to a brushless shave cream, consider the Razor MD shave cream as an option.

Popeye Shave Cream applied to head.

Personally, I thought it had a decent slickness to it. It reminded me of some other brushless creams I’ve tried, like the Every Man Jack Shave Cream, Joe Grooming Shave, Burts Bees Shave Cream, or even Billy Jealousy Whipped Cream.

I don’t have a thick beard, so application wise I needed about an almond sized dollop to cover the face.  I needed a little more to cover my head.

The Post Shave Lotion

Popeye Post Shave Lotion
Two of the ingredients listed on the Post Shave are Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice and Lavandula Officinalis (Lavender Oil).  I first discovered the benefits of those ingredients watching a behind the scenes clip from the movie The 40-Year Old Virgin where after filming the infamous waxing scene, they used a lavender and aloe mixture to soothe the skin.  They mention it round the 3:00 minute mark in the clip below. Note: Clip below is NSFW - Strong Language Used

Granted, The 40-Year Old Virgin probably isn’t the greatest source of information for treating irritated skin. But it did prompt me to consider the benefits of Aloe and Lavender for razor burn and irritated skin.  According to the the article titled Lavender Oil for Burns from the Livestrong website, Lavender is said to “… have local analgesic and anesthetic effects.” Also from the Livestrong site, the article titled Aloe Vera & Skin Benefits, Aloe vera is said to have “anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties”

Dispensing Post Shave Lotion

I’ve been using the Razor MD Natural Unscented Post Shave Lotion for a while.  While the scent is different, the feel and consistency of the Popeye Post Shave Lotion is similar.  It has what I would probably describe as a “calming feel” and does not have that “sting” of a balm or splash. I typically use this post shave lotion after applying a splash or if my skin has been irritated.  I’ve even used it on my nose when have a cold and my skin has been irritated from the tissues.

During this particular shave session, I decided to use the Fine Accoutrements Platinum after shave splash.  After a about 10 or 15 minutes, I then applied the Popeye Post Shave Lotion. I felt that light sandalwood scent of the Post Shave Lotion complemented the Fine Platinum scent that lingered.

The session's shave tools of choice

If you’re thinking of switching the canned aerosol shave cream for a sandalwood scented shave set, consider the Popeye Shave Collection by Razor MD.  If sandalwood isn’t the preferred scent choice, then check out the Pre-Shave Oils, Shave Creams, and Post Shave Lotions by Razor MD in their Natural Unscented and Herbal Blend aromas.
